In the fall of 2008, Pearl River Community College will open its doors for the 100th year of service to the citizens of Mississippi.
As Mississippi's first two-year institution of higher learning, Pearl River has been a leader in providing quality and innovative educational opportunities.
A century of service and providing opportunities for those who desired to seek higher eduation has given the institution a special place in the history of our state.
The centennial year provides the college with a special opportunity to showcase not only its unique history, but also its current programs and services.
A Centennial Celebration Steering Committee has been at work since the summer of 2007 and has developed a year-long agenda of special activities. Three major Centennial Celebration events are being
planned beginning on Sept. 8, 2008, with an activity to commemorate the first day of class that occurred in 1909.
Pearl River occupies a special place in the lives and hearts of many people. It is a place that has endeared the affection and loyalty of many thousands of people who have been touched in some manner by the
insitution. It is a place, carved in rural America, that has created dreams and opened the world to its students.
From its ambitious beginnings in 1909 to its far-reaching programs and services of today, Pearl River Community College has been Mississippi's first and finest two-year institution of higher learning.

We want your story

As part of the Pearl River Community College Centennial Celebration, the Public Relations Department is planning to publish stories from students who have attended PRCC in the past.

These stories will be published in school publications throughout the Centennial Celebration.

"We want your story, or stories," said Chuck Abadie, Director of Public Relations at PRCC. "Pearl River has opened its doors to thousands of students over the past 99 years. I am sure that many of our alumni have favorite stories of their days at Pearl River.

"Did you meet your spouse at Pearl River? Who was your favorite teacher? Did you make some lifelong friends at PRCC? Who were they and do you still stay in touch? What were your lasting impressions from attending PRCC? Did Pearl River present some opportunities to you that otherwise might not have happened for you? Were you one of several members of your family to attend Pearl River Community College?

"Any topic is welcomed."
